Founded in 1980 by Ms. Shelley Rae Aris originally as Academy Dancentre, a school of excellence in classical ballet. Based in Perth, Western Australia, the school later developed into the WA Conservatoire of Classical Ballet and is now under direction of Beth James, one of Academy Dancentre’s first full-time students. The Conservatoire is one of Australia’s elite training institutions for aspiring young dancers and teachers. Offering full-time as well as progressive part-time programmes, the Conservatoire strives to provide students with the best possible education and training to support their career in professional dance nationally and internationally.

Actively working with each student individually to assist students to excel in their chosen career path, regardless of dance style, the Conservatoire welcomes students regardless of sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin and financial circumstances. All students have opportunities within the Conservatoire to partake in national and international dance events to gain exposure and experience.
